John T. Murphy
Professor of Design

Youngstown State University
Department of Theatre

Welcome to the technical side of the Youngstown State University Theatre program!

I've been an instructor here since 1993.  As a teacher, I model a strong commitment to the areas of organization and preparation.

Class work and projects are tied to portfolio development and must clearly display process.  Oral presentations and peer analysis are a standard in my classes.  I believe in mandatory production experience for all students as well as a strong theoretical base.

My goal is to prepare you for a career in theatre.
